Goonhilly Downs
Goonhilly Wind Farm is one of the oldest wind farms in the UK, generating clean energy from the Lizard in Cornwall since 1993.
As technology developed over the years, the original 14 turbines gradually became outdated. In 2010 REG Windpower completed a project to replace them with six newer, taller machines, more than trebling the clean energy output.
Repowering the site in this way also enabled us to establish a Community Fund to support good causes in the neighbouring area.

Community
A Community Fund was established in 2010, with £48,000 (index-linked) available each year over the lifetime of the project to support good causes in the neighboring area.
Applications are encouraged from projects or initiatives of benefit to the community within the TR12 post code area. A panel of local people then identify the most deserving projects in the community and allocated funds accordingly. They are supported by the Cornwall Community Foundation, which administers the fund on our behalf.
